IN STATS

What a month! The dust has settled, but have some more fun with the most memorable statistics at France 2019.

With a 4th FWWC trophy in their cabinet, the unbeaten United States and their stars re-wrote some records

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • 26 ⚽️ scored, a new record
  • 17 games unbeaten + 12 consecutive wins
  • Jill Ellis is the first coach to win 2 FWWC
  • Megan Rapinoe is the first player to score multiple goals in back-to-back knockout matches

USA ICONS

  • Tobin Heath, Ali Krieger, Rapinoe, Alex Morgan and Carli Lloyd played their 3rd FWWC final, joining Germany's Birgit Prinz on that mark
  • Rapinoe eclipsed Lloyd as the oldest goalscorer in a final

A very special Bday! 🎂

  • Alex Morgan became the 1st player to score a FWWC goal on her birthday. It was during the 2-1 semi-final win against England
  • She has now scored in 2 FWWC semi-finals, equalling Bettina Wiegmann and Josefine Oqvist

But of course not everything was about the USA!

  • 7 European teams reached the last 8. No Asian teams made the quarter-finals for the first time
  • NED vs SWE was the 1st semi-final in FWWC history decided in extra-time

Unbelievable comeback!

  • Argentina became the 1st team to recover a 3-goal deficit and take something from a FWWC match
  • They trailed 3-0 to Scotland heading into the 74th minute and drew 3-3!

Italian inspiration!

Azzurre midfielder Aurora Galli became the 2nd player to score 3 goals as a substitute (Lisa De Vanna also did it in 2007):

  • A brace against Jamaica
  • 1 goal against China PR
