Elected to the FIFA Council on 8 May 2017, Chung Mong Gyu is an experienced businessman and football administrator, who is currently the president of the Korea Football Association, a position held since 2013, and an AFC Vice-President. He also serves as chairman of Hyundai Development Company, having previously acted as Hyundai Motors’ CEO. Chung’s passion for football has also seen him hold the position of chairman for three different clubs in Korea Republic and that of president for the country’s top flight, the K-League. He has also served on the Organising Committee for the FIFA Club World Cup and is chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Korea Republic 2017.
